The designer, the Reader

With a foundation in classical art and a lifelong love for literature, particularly fantasy and historical romance, I focus on curating and assembling digital collages that will challenge expectation. My work draws inspiration from a vast array of sources, piecing together existing images to form unique and eye-catching compositions. Through this process, I explore the juxtaposition of contrasting elements. Positioning aspects of many different kinds of reading environments, worlds, and experiences.

"I strive to create art that is both visually stunning and cultivates a deeper investment in the reader's journey, making each return to the page a welcome reunion."

Story and attributions:

A few years ago, I was creating original digital art images-

(@jessicabartonart)and sharing them on Instagram as a sort of gallery... and getting a TON of creator burnout. I love to paint and draw, but to tell the truth, the aspect of me that was once basking in the art of artistry really became resentful at the idea that hours and sometimes days worth of work I was putting in was being all but ignored. I fell into design years before that and had done a bit of work making promotional artwork, assemblage, and curation for small businesses.

My sister commissioned me to create a whole series of stickers for her company a few months ago and that reignited my complete love for creative assembling of existing images or digital collage work. I love bringing these images together to form a new scene that is pleasing and meaningful to me. The work is satisfying in it's balance and completion and I am bringing The Grimnagerie to you more in the vein of "hand-crafter". The hours and careful work it takes to cut, protect, and assemble these bookmarks is incredibly time and resource consuming and I take immense pride in what I have been able to produce with my hands!

It is my intent to ONLY use artwork that was explicitly acquired by Canva through compensation to the artist who submitted it to be used as a stock image.

That being said, I feel it is not only necessary, but correct to cite the artists behind any of the original artwork that exists within the frame of my creations, because they deserve respect as artists themselves. Please feel free to explore their work if you like!

Thank you, and always Happy Reading!
